Got Data?
Did you know that SDSU is part of the Social Science Research and Instructional Center (SSRIC); a consortium made up of the CSU campuses?
It is an amazing campus resource that is not well known or well utilized. Although the focus is mainly on the Social Sciences, the resources are open to and used by other disciplines such as Psychology, Public Administration, Social Work, Public Health, and Criminal Justice.
As part of our membership, any faculty, staff or student from SDSU has access to the following databases:
There are also a number of great instructional resources available on the SSRIC site at http://ssric.org.
The SSRIC hosts a student research competition each year with cash prizes. This year there are three $5,000 prizes for: (1) best graduate paper, (2) best undergraduate paper, and (3) best use of quantitative data. The competition will be on May 7, 2015 at CSU Sacramento. Travel grants will be available to help with the costs of travel for those student’s that interested in participating. The deadline to submit papers is April 8, 2015. More information can be found at: http://ssric.org/participate/src.
Want to learn more?
Coming on April 24th (10am to 12pm), a representative from the SSRIC council will host a free workshop that will discuss the SSRIC and its resources in greater detail. It will take place in LL-260 and is open to all SDSU faculty, staff, and students. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first served basis. We hope to see you there!
